Program Description
Mariposa (butterfly in Spanish) references the small business taking flight after a period of transformation. This program is designed to support entrepreneurial, or food-industry experienced small businesses owners, launch, reach profitability, and reach a production or sales volume that makes them eligible for the next level in their business, this could be co-packaging or perhaps their own facility.
The Mariposa Program was launched in 2021 and designed for already-established small business or those that may have experience in business. Additionally, this program came out of need for those that may have suffered closures or reductions due to Covid-19 shutdowns by allowing the use of the commercial kitchen without entering the Semilla or Mixing Bowl Incubation Programs.
Mariposa Program Participants agree to work with SVEDC Staff to receive support scaling their business.
Graduation is not required but an established plan must be identified and approved by the Program Manager for the participant to continue beyond Year 5. Each Participant will work to develop graduation plans. Each Participant will be assessed in collaboration with SVEDC staff around the 5th year.
